Who we are

Welcome to the Wessex Cancer Trust

The Wessex Cancer Trust is an independent charity which has raised approximately £17million to help support and improve cancer services in the Wessex region. Established in 1981, this unique Trust supports many aspects of cancer care, including leading edge research, the improvement of patient facilities, purchase of much needed equipment, patient grants, complementary therapy and counselling services.

As a major regional charity we are committed to improving cancer care throughout the Wessex region, which includes the Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset, and a founding principle of the Trust is that funds raised are to be distributed within the region.

Through the generosity of so many people, we have been able to fund major projects including the Piam Brown Children’s paediatric oncology unit at Southampton University Hospital Trust, provide mobile mammography vehicles which have screened well over a million women for breast cancer, a 3 year Psychological project at Salisbury Hospital Trust, a mini bus which transports Island patients to hospital or hotel accommodation, several leading edge research projects, vital medical equipment, specialist nurse training, individual patient grants and much much more.

The Trust has also gained support of many well-known personalities and Vice Presidents of the Trust include gardening expert Alan Titchmarsh, news presenter Sally Taylor and Sporting personalities including Matthew Le Tissier, Lawrie McMenemy and David Duckham.

We are committed to raising even more money than ever this year, so that we can provide more funding for cancer support services. We need your help to do this. You can find ways to donate on our Donate page. Thank you.

Our thanks to everyone who has helped us to achieve so much so far!
