Wessex Cancer Trust

Throughout the year, many events take place around the Wessex region which help to raise much needed funds for the Trust. These range from family fun runs and fashion shows to corporate sporting days and celebrity dinners. Our heartfelt thanks go to all of those people who are working so hard to help us help more people.

• Family Fun Afternoon - Join us at East Tytherley Cricket Club for a Charity Cricket Match on Sunday 5th September. East Tytherley Cricket Club XI will meet The Star Inn XI Cricket team from 2pm onwards. There will also be guest appearances by Gardening Expert Charile Dimmock, Former Saints Captain Jason Dodd, Former Hampshire Wicket-Keeper Adi Aymes and BBC Radio Sports Commentator Kevan James. Other attractions on the day will also include a classic car display, entertainment by The Old Romsey Cadets Band and music from local band 'Should've Known Better'. A BBQ and refreshments will also be available from the Star Inn which will be open all day from 11am. Entry fee is just £5 for adults and children under 16 go free!
• Rock n Raise - On Tuesday 7th September Wessex Cancer Trust invtie you to a special 'Rock n Raise' at Soul Cellar Southampton to see local bands showcasing their talent and raising money for the Trust. Doors open at 7.30pm and tickets cost just £5 on the door. Alterntively you can book your tickets in advance from Eliza on 023 8067 2200 or email eliza@wessexcancer.org
• PSP Southampton Boat Show - The Trust will be at The PSP Southampton Boat Show between Friday 10th and Sunday 19th September. Tickets are available by clicking here! For more information on the PSP Southampton Boat Show 2010 please visit www.southamptonboatshow.com  
• PSP Southampton Boat Show Ladies Day in association with the Daily Echo - The Trust are pleased to announce that we are the official charity for Ladies Day on Thursday 16th September. For more information please click here.
• Afternoon by the Lake - SOLD OUT! WCT Southampton and WCT Alton Group would like to invite you to a lunch in the Summer House Garden at Holywell House, Swanmore on Sunday 12th September. Come and enjoy a buffet lunch with accompanying music in a marquee by the lake in the gardens by kind permission of Lady Clarendon from 11.30am - 3.30pm. You are invited to bring your own glasses and drinks or buy glasses of wine from us. A raffle will be held in support of the Wessex Cancer Trust. • Year 7 Fundraising Bonding Week - We all know how hard it is for kids joining secondary school so the girls at the Trust want to make it that little bit easier for them to help make friends. During the week of Monday 20th - Friday 24th September the WCT Education Team are happy to visit your school (on a day of your choice) and organise fun activities and workshops for the children. All they ask in return is a £1 donation from each pupil. The kids can also dress down for the day! • Pants on Fire Fun Run - Run or walk 5k for Men's cancers in the first ever Pants on Fire Fun Run. The run will take place on Sunday 26th September at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth. Entry fee is £7.50 for adults, £5 11-16s, £3 under 10s and £20 for a family of 4. The day will kick start at from 10.30am onwards. • Matt Le Tissier Golf Day - Once again this fantastic event will be held on Tuesday 28th September at the prestigious Remedy Oak Golf Course. Team entry costs £475. Final details coming soon!

• Black and White Evening - On Saturday 2nd October Wessex Cancer Trust and Sophie Barringer Trust invite you to a Black and White Evening at Empire Hall, Library Road, Totton from 7.15pm until midnight. There will be live entertainment from live band 'Harry Hammersmith and Flyovers'. The dress code is black and white. Tickets cost £15 to include a ploughmans meal or £10 without. • Aqualap - This annual popular event is already booking up fast but will take place on Sunday 3rd October at The Quays Swimming Baths, Southampton from 9am - 3pm. Aqualap is a team event for swimmers of ALL abilities and is a fun event, not a race. Teams of six swim in relay as many laps of The Quays pool as they are able in their allocated 55 minutes. There is no entry charge therefore we hope everyone will try and raise sponsorship for the Trust. • Clarendon Marathon - Please help raise money for the Wessex Cancer Trust by running in the Clarendon Full/Half/Relay Marathon which is an exciting, popular, multi-terrain event between Salisbury/Broughton & Winchester on Sunday 3rd October. • Big Fun Run - grab your running shoes in a bid to help raise money for Wessex Cancer Trust. The Big Fun Run is a national event held in various locations around the UK but on Saturday 9th October the run comes to the Southampton Common. The Trust are pleased to annouce we are one of the partnering charities so runners can now raise money for the Trust where ever you are in the UK! By selecting the charity through the Big Fun Run website runners also get a discounted entry fee! • Halloween Firewalk - Be a devil for the night on Thursday 28th October and walk across hot coals in halloween fancy dress. The walk will take place outside Portsmouth Guildhall and a minimum of £75 sponsorship needs to be raised. • Charity Rubber Bridge Evening - Southampton Group invite you to a Charity Rubber Bridge Evening at Highfield Church Centre, Highfield Lane on Friday 29th October. Guests are to arrive at 7pm for a 7.15pm start until 10.15pm (approx finish). Please book in advance and tickets cost just £6 per person which includes light refreshments. • Christmas Gift Fair - Jane Scarth House invite you to a Christmas Gift Fair on Sunday 7th November, 10.30am - 4.30pm at Woodley Village Hall, School Road, Romsey. Come along to browse or to buy unusual and good quality items such as handbag organisers, cake stands, jewellery, order your christmas flowers arrangements and christmas cake to name just a few! Entry is free but please support the raffle. • Carol Concert - Wessex Cancer Trust invites you to our annual Christmas Carol Concert on Wednesday 1st December at Romsey Abbey from 7.30pm. Your host for the evening will be Tim Daykin of BBC Radio Solent and WCT Chaplain with musical performances by King Edward VI School Concert Band, Romsey Abbey Girls Choir and Kim Hussey, soloist.
